Management Committee Meetings

Association Management Committee meetings are held each month generally on the second Monday of the month.  The meeting is held at the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens SPORTS CLUB in Greenwell Point Rd, Nowra. The Management Committee is made up of the Association Executive plus 2 members of each affiliated Club.

Turf Update (December 2009)

Shoalhaven Hockey in conjunction with Shoalhaven City Council is currently planning to build a water based synthetic hockey pitch at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex at North Nowra during 2009/10.

A Development Application for 2 water based synthetic surfaces located to the south of the existing amenities building where the current carpark exists has now been approved by Council (on 22nd July 2008). This DA drew objections from a small number of residents in West Cambewarra Rd. A siteplan for the development is available for viewing here.

Pre construction approvals from NSW Govt agencies have now been secured by Council (December 2009). This process took more time than expected. Now that these approvals are to hand and the design finalised, tenders have been called by Shoalhaven Council and construction will commence around Easter 2010.

Funding for Stage 1 of this project (single turf), a $2.2m project will come from four sources - Developers having contributed towards a S94 Plan ($1,200,000), the Federal Government ($700,000) Shoalhaven City Council ($180,000) and funds accumulated by Shoalhaven Hockey ($120,000).

Each season Shoalhaven Hockey has accumulated $10,350 which is matched $ for $ from Shoalhaven City Council under the User Contribution Policy. To date $60,873 is in this account as well as $60,000 in the Association's Turf Fund. Council under its Section 94 Contributions Policy has accumulated, since 1995, in excess of $1,200,000 contributed by local developers towards an artificial hockey surface in the Shoalhaven.

The introduction of a synthetic surface adjacent to the couch grass surfaces will allow Shoalhaven to host championships higher than regional events which have been run in the past. 

Funds raised in the Association canteen will assist in this venture, as well as profits from carnivals and championships hosted by Shoalhaven Hockey.
